The Story of Worldwide Tattoo Supply

Tattooing is one of the oldest art forms on earth.  For thousands of years, it was done entirely by hand, with sharpened bone, thorn, shell, and crude needles that placed pigment into skin one mark at a time.

The tools were primitive.

Everything changed in the late 1800s, when the first electric tattoo machines, inspired by early electric-pen technology, made the work faster and more precise.

As the craft grew more sophisticated, it demanded more from its tools, especially the needle.

Artists needed needles that were consistent, safe, and dependable.

For decades, dependable needles were hard to come by.  Needles had been soldered together by hand, one at a time, by artists or small suppliers.  Quality swung from batch to batch, and sterilization was far from standardized.

As tattooing became a profession, it needed a better answer.

A Practical Problem, and a Simple Beginning

Worldwide Tattoo Supply did not begin with a grand plan.  Its founder manufactured acupuncture needles, precision work governed by strict quality control.  His wife, who was a permanent makeup artist, was constantly buying loose tattoo needles that were expensive, inconsistent, and frustrating to rely on.

One day, she asked a simple question:

"Can we make these ourselves?"

The answer was yes.

Drawing on the manufacturing experience they already had, they started producing unassembled tattoo needles. Starting first with loose needles, then pre-soldered needle heads with grouping & soldering jigs. They listened closely to what artists were actually using, and they obsessed over consistency.

As the industry matured, they were one of the first to make pre-sterilized, blister-packed needles, a standard that made tattooing safer and cleaner, and one that artists still rely on today.

Growing Beyond Needles

The more they worked with artists and studios, the clearer one thing became: shops needed more than needles.  So the company kept building, developing, and manufacturing...most in-house

  • Power supplies, clip cords, and foot switches
  • Tattoo machines and machine parts
  • Tattoo inks
  • Thermal transfer paper & stencil machines
  • Soaps, cleaning products, & shop essentials
  • And the countless accessories that keep a studio running

A few items, like gloves, were sourced rather than made, but the goal never changed: everything an artist needs in one place, built with the same mindset that started it all.

Reliability, practicality, and a real understanding of the work.

A Family Business, Still Growing

What began as a practical fix inside a small factory grew into Worldwide Tattoo Supply, built slowly through steady work, close listening, and constant improvement.

Today, it is run by the founder's three sons, carrying forward what started with one simple request and a willingness to solve real problems.

The mission has stayed humble:

  • Build tools artists can trust
  • Keep improving through experience
  • Support the tattoo community with products that hold up

Looking Forward

Tattooing has come a long way, from handmade needles to modern cartridges, from bare-bones setups to fully equipped professional studios.

But the foundation has not moved:

help artists do their best work with tools they can depend on.

That is how a small family operation became Worldwide Tattoo Supply, growing alongside the industry it serves, one product at a time.
